Rennie Team Tuesday: Michael Chou

Rennie Team Tuesday: Michael Chou

Meet Michael Chou, new member of our growing Advisor team.

What inspired you to join Rennie?

Definitely the people at Rennie. I was first exposed to Rennie as John Tsai‘s client, and now I have the pleasure of working with him on his team. I am absolutely amazed by Rennie’s Marketing and Market Intelligence teams, as they provide immense resources that I did not have in any previous job.

What got you into the real estate industry?

Before joining Rennie, I was in Residential Sales at ADT Security for almost two years. I built my business from scratch and was ranked 7th nationally in sales, yet it lacked the resources that Rennie offers. I appreciate detailed analytics that will help me serve my clients in making data-driven decisions.

What do you most look forward to about coming into the Rennie office?

It’s a place for me to be productive, but besides that, I enjoy talking to and learning from my intelligent colleagues.

What is the most rewarding part of the job?

The opportunity to meet different people. There is an old Chinese saying: A mirror can help with your appeals, but people can help you learn and grow.

What qualities do you most value in the people you surround yourself with?

Caring, meticulous, and analytical.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I wrote and defended my master thesis on developmental genetics exploring p21 activated kinase (members of a family of enzymes) using Drosophila oogenesis as a model.

How do you start your day?

It always begins with coffee.

What makes a home feel like a home?

Homemade food. I enjoy the array of delicacies that Vancouver has to offer, but nothing beats a homemade meal.

What’s the most memorable place you have travelled to?

When my family and I were still living in Taipei, we would visit onsens in different parts of Japan. The food and the hospitality were amazing.

What’s the first spot you go to after coming home from a trip abroad?

Either dim sum or sushi. I always look forward to coming home to Vancouver, which probably has the best Chinese food and the freshest seafood on the West Coast.

Tell us about your everyday essentials.
