Rennie Team Tuesday: Hugh Taylor
Meet Hugh Taylor, Rennie Marketing Systems Summer Intern
Why do you work with Rennie?
I was extremely fortunate to come into an intern position at Rennie. I have been learning new things every day, as well, I have met so many good people here that I know will help me with my future in the Real Estate industry.
What makes you passionate about Real Estate?
I have grown up around several family members within the industry, this has had a big influence on my personal interests, leading me to have a keen interest in all aspects of real estate. Growing up in the Vancouver area has been especially interesting due to our constantly changing market.
What do you value most in your friends?
Honesty, ambition, and a good sense of humour.
What do you value most in your colleagues?
Being an intern, I consider my colleagues to be more like my coaches because of all that they teach me. A strong work ethic, along with cooperation allows for the work environment to excel.
What are the biggest time wasters in your life? What do you do to manage them?
My phone is by far the biggest time waster; you can do virtually anything on an iPhone so it is very easy to lose track of time. On top of that, Netflix consumes a lot of my time, it starts with one episode, and then before you know it you’ve watched 4 or 5. To manage my time I create a list of things I want to complete before the end of the week and I set a few short term goals.
Name one or two of your favourite gems.
One of my favourite gems would be the gym. Another would be my cabin in Kelowna, it is super relaxing to get up there for a weekend and get out on the boat.
Why do you like living in Vancouver?
I like living in Vancouver because everything you need/want is within a small radius. Downtown is very central, but if you want to go somewhere quieter it’s only a short drive out of the city. It’s refreshing being on the water, but so close to the mountains at the same time. Also, the selection of restaurants here is quite outstanding, we have numerous cuisines to choose from.
Tell us about your everyday essentials.
I never leave the house without my phone, wallet, and keys. I bring my sunglasses and usually an umbrella as well . A nice pair of shoes, headphones, and my laptop. I always have a pen and a pack of gum on me because I’m very fidgety. Lastly, I don’t go anywhere without some backup hair gel, because if your hair gets messed up, it’s all downhill from there.
